Background
Abir is a Professor of Economics, Finance & Investment at AAST, AAMBFS and other universities. She provides various courses in the field of Finance & Banking, Economics, Investment, Statistics, Accounting and Research Methodologies. In SSM Cairo, Dr. Abir is responsible for the Finance Department and provides courses in Accounting and Financial Management, Investment Management, Macroeconomics and International Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions and others. Abir is currently the Business Intelligence Director at Alkan CIT Group responsible for local and international markets research and Sales performance analysis on CRM and ERP of the Group over 12 different markets in the MEA region and Canada.
Abir has significant experience in business development and project management cycles for trade and development agreements, economic modeling and research, human resources development and capacity-building strategies’ design and implementation, strategic monitoring and evaluation, and results-based finance and budgeting. She is a human development strategist with multicultural experience with international organizations in several business sectors. She was honored Best Ideal Leader on Ministry of Trade and Industry – Egypt, “El Motamayezoun Competition” in 2009 conducted by MSAD.
Abir was managing the multi-donor program for the institutionalization of results- based management (RBM) in the Egyptian government apparatus by UNDP, USAID, GIZ, and CIDA. Abir participated in policy design for trade and development, human development and leaders’ replacement, donation projects execution with the public sector and was a member of steering committee, sub-committee and academic assessment committee of Cairo Initiative with USAID to manage graduate scholarships for Egyptian public servants in USA. She was the head of Trade Policy Analysis Unit in the Egyptian Investigating Authority; she led economic analysis and assessments, trade analysis & agreements effectiveness, rules of origin effectiveness in existing trade agreements and identifying potential Free Trade Areas (FTAs). She also took part in the review of the Egyptian trade-remedies law and regulation, and in the drafting of template documents for trade remedies investigations and standard complaints.
Abir holds a B.Sc. in Economics and Finance from Algeria University (French) with Honors in 1991, and an MBA in International Marketing with Honors from AASTMT in 2005. She finished a diploma in Economic Modeling from Sussex University – England in 2006 and a diploma in Macroeconomic modeling from Purdue University – USA in 2008. She received her Doctorate Degree in Business Administration – Finance & Banking from AASTMT with Honors in 2012, with a new applied research on “The Determinants of Enterprise Risk Management and its Effects on Major Listed Egyptian Firms’ Performance” including all listed companies in EGX.
