Prof. Sherif Delawar

Egyptian Thinker in Economic Development and Visiting Professor of Managerial Sciences

Background

Prof. Delawar is a Visiting professor of management sciences at the Egyptian and French universities for the MBA and the DBA.

Prof. Delawar is a Member of The Board of Trustees for the National Training Academy (www.nta.eg) chaired by the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. He is a Member of the board of the Social Fund for Development, the State Holding Company for Chemical Industries (24 companies), the Alexandria and Damietta Ports Authorities, the Arab Management Association, the Alexandria Business Association. He was also a member of the “High Council for Culture” and the “Academy for Scientific Research & Technology” and the Board of the Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med- Bibliotheca Alexandrina), and was appointed as the first Honorary Consul of India in Alexandria.

Prof. Delawar is a practitioner with extensive business experience as a senior executive in various sectors (oil and petrochemicals manufacturing industries, construction). He also possesses a strong academic background and has been involved as “consultant” for the United Nations Industrial Organization in a number of industrial feasibility studies in Africa, Latin America and the Arab world.

Prof. Delawar has been awarded the highest academic French award “Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Academiques” from the French republic for his academic achievements. He also acted as Head of the Management Department of Senghor University where he still teaches as visiting professor. In SSM Cairo, Prof. Delawar provides Master Classes and courses in Strategies formulation, Economics, Management, Leadership and others.

Prof. Delawar is the author of six books: Change: Why and How? (1990), Issues on the Path of Economic Reform (1993), the Modernization of Egypt (1999), the Egyptian Economy and Globalization (2002), the Take Over of the World (2010). He also has numerous papers and newspaper articles analyzing economic development issues both on national and international levels. His latest book “Not to Steal the Future” was released late 2014. Prof. Delawar holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Alexandria University in 1962.
